BT opened up Thursday's show by ripping into the failure of the Nets after the team traded away Kevin Durant, after he became the third Brooklyn superstar to ask for a trade.
But Tiki was a bit more optimistic, and says even if the big three's tenure ended with one just playoff series victory, and even with how bitter it ended, it was still worth it.
"Think about what their stated mission was with Joe Tsai when they came to Brooklyn," Tiki said. "To claim New York, and start dominating on the national scene. They had that. They had the opportunity to take headlines from the Knicks…for certain stretches, they did that. They became relevant. They became a national conversation in so many ways.
"We discount it because of what it feels like they did over the last three seasons, but they were consistently in the playoffs, and were a Kevin Durant toenail away from making the Eastern Conference Finals."
Of course, the goal when Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden joined the Nets was to win multiple titles, and the team didn't come close to winning even one. But Tiki says the franchise showed how quickly it can become relevant, and there's no reason why they can't do it again.
"Yeah, I understand they didn't accomplish what they wanted…but now organizationally, they have set themselves to another standard," Tiki said. "They've now changed the expectation for the organization, even if it didn't result in a championship."
