You know Pete Hoffman as the producer of BT & Sal, producer/co-host of the Rico Brogna podcast, and a part-time host on the FAN…but what you may not have known is Pete is also the producer of Giants game broadcasts on the WFAN side.

So, he’s seen every minute of 15 Giants games and even some Jets, too…and while the season was over weeks ago in many minds, the Giants’ loss to Philly Christmas evening, which eliminated them mathematically from playoff contention, officially closed the book.

“Well, the football season in New York has officially closed,” Hoff said as he opened his show in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. “Even though the records, 5-10 for the Giants and 6-9 for the Jets, meant it was over long ago, we were able to get to Week 16 and feel like there was game left to play, and maybe some miracles could happen – and that sucks.”

Both teams had opportunities to find ways to win even with all their quarterback, injury, and other issues, but “you saw one team in the Giants continuously work to see what fits, and do their best to figure out a way to win games,” while the Jets “force-fed the same process over and over and over.”

And so, in Pete’s mind, the 5-10 Giants “had moments where they were inches away, a play away…opportunity to actually make this a winning season, with the NFL as weird as it’s ever been.”

The Jets, not so much.
