Jonathan Quick was once again on top of his game for the Rangers on Monday night, leading the Blueshirts to a 2-1 overtime win in the their first game out of the All-Star break.

Quick made 32 saves in the win, and C-Mac wonders if Quick should get more reps as the starter over the struggling Igor Shesterkin.

“Quick has been the more consistent goaltender over Igor…there has rarely been a stinker from Quick this year. He has played remarkably well,” C-Mac said. “Igor has been kind of up and down. I’ve said it for a while being concerned about his play…you need Igor Shesterkin to be the goalie he was two years ago, and so far, he hasn’t been.”

C-Mac doesn’t believe Shesterkin will lose his role as the starter, especially in the playoffs, but if Quick continues to turn back the clock, he may need to get more reps to serve as a wake-up call to Shesterkin.

“Certainly at least start to play him more often,” C-Mac said. “In the short term, you’re trying to motivate Igor.”
