Chris Kreider on Rangers playoff hockey at MSG: 'There really isn't a better place'

Chris Kreider, a Rangers lifer, is one of the few on the current roster who knows what it is like to suit up for the home team for a playoff game in Madison Square Garden.

It's been five years for Kreider, as New York hadn't made the postseason since 2017 before Tuesday night ends that drought, but he remembers with clarity what the feeling is like to take the ice at The World's Most Famous Arena.

The emotions are too unforgettable to lose sight of that feeling.

"The energy in the building and the support that we have, the noise is hard to put into words," Kreider said. "There really isn't a better place to play playoff hockey, especially as the home team."

Kreider has experienced Stanley Cup games in The Garden, and witnessed unforgettable moments like Martin St. Louis burying an overtime winner against the Canadiens to give the Blueshirts a 3-1 series lead in the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals. Kreider and the Rangers will try to add more moments like that beginning Tuesday against the Penguins, when they officially bring an end to their postseason drought.

Those who haven't experienced it before will be in for something special, as Kreider says there is nothing like playoff hockey in The Garden.

"It certainly adds to the entire experience," Kreider said. "I've said it a few times. It's just a lot of fun."
