Connor McDavid provided one of the early candidates for Goal of the Year on Friday night in a dazzling display of entertainment, unless you’re a Rangers fan.

New York, which held a three-goal lead earlier in the game, led by just one with three minutes to go in the third period, and had four defenders positioned between McDavid and Rangers goalie Alexander Georgiev.

The Oilers star blew threw them all to tie the game.

After an Edmonton scoring chance, McDavid pulled the puck out of the attacking zone and to center ice, only to charge right back over the blue line and take the puck right up the gut, blowing past two Rangers and weaving his way through two more before beating Georgiev with a backhanded shot to tie the game and send the Edmonton crowd into a frenzy.

The Oilers wound up completing the comeback and winning in overtime to move to 9-1-0 on the season. McDavid, who also had two assists, now has eight goals on the year.

Friday night’s may have been his best one yet.
