Evan went off on Rangers fans celebrating their dramatic comeback win over the Islanders at Sunday's Stadium Series, declaring that the Blueshirts faithful were acting as if the event meant that the game meant more than what it was, a regular season contest.
"All you fat Rangers fans that walked out of that building last night, all pumped up, beating your chest, 'little brother' this, 'little brother that,' understanding it's the same crap as if the game was played at UBS [Arena]," Evan said. "You don't get extra points because it was at MetLife Stadium."
Evan says he described that to his son, who was upset after watching his team lose painfully to the rival Blueshirts.
"I looked into his young eyes and said, 'It doesn't mean anything, son,'" Evan said. "This was a regular hockey game. It was typical of the Islanders all season long. It was no different from the crap we saw a month ago or two months ago. It's the same. So it was dressed up beautifully and, yes, we were all locked in. This is nothing against the NHL. It was awesome.
"Stop acting like you're the Yankees, you've won one cup in 70 years."
