Evan believes Rangers are winning Stanley Cup after watching series-opening win over Canes
Evan opened Monday's show by regretfully admitting that the Rangers are going to end their title drought in 2024.
After watching all of Sunday's series opener against the Hurricanes, Evan is worried that the team he despises is actually going to win it all.
"I think the Rangers are gonna win the Stanley Cup," Evan said. "There's no reverse jinx. There's no such thing as a reverse jinx…I watched it from a perspective of, 'I want your team to lose.' And I know how good Carolina is."
Evan recalled the exact moment at the end of game one when he realized that the Blueshirts were destined to hoist the Cup come June.
"When Carolina gets a gift from the Gods with a delay of game penalty…and they had that 6-on-4 advantage, I'm thinking, 'This is gonna be like what [Carolina] did to the Islanders,'" Evan said. "Immediately, not only do they win the faceoff, it leads to a brutal Carolina penalty, which negates the 6-on-4 advantage.
"I said, 'I think we're screwed.' They've won five in a row to start the postseason, they're playing excellent hockey, and their stars are playing well."
