After taking in the Madison Square Garden atmosphere during a game three win for the Knicks on Friday night, Craig praised the team as once again being the talk of the city.

But Evan came in and said the other team that calls MSG home is the bigger draw.

“I think the Rangers are bigger than the Knicks these days,” Evan said. “It’s not just the ratings, it’s the ticket demand. It’s even higher for the Rangers than it is than the Knicks. It’s very high for the Knicks, I’m not trying to diminish that, but a lot of it is the success the franchises have had.

“When you go 20-plus years of one franchise being a continuous contender…I think the Rangers have passed the Knicks. Your problem is, you’re thinking of 25 years ago. I’m thinking of 2023. A lot has changed. You had a generation of people that got turned off from basketball because the Knicks were so bad.

“I don’t know what metric you want to go by...but whatever metric you want to go by, I believe the Rangers have surpassed the Knicks.”

Craig isn’t buying it, and says the ratings disparity between the team’s two playoff games can be attributed to the Rangers being broadcast on multiple networks, while having a little help from Devils fans in the market tuning in as well. Still, while he says the Knicks are king at MSG, he says the city as a whole still belongs to the pinstripes.

“The time of year that the Knicks would have a chance to do anything in the playoffs, it’s still so early in the [baseball] season,” Craig said. “But don’t get it twisted. It’s still a Yankee town first.”
