Boomer is likely sitting at home livid that the morning show waited until he was on vacation to open with Rangers talk.
But that’s just how well the Blueshirts are playing right now.
After dispatching the Capitals with five straight goals on Wednesday night, New York now sits with 45 points atop the Metro, and is behind only the Golden Knights for the most points in the NHL.
After last year’s heartbreaking game seven loss to the rival Devils in the first round, the Rangers look like the real deal.
“You’ve got a team right now in New York, it was a cute story back in October…we are now almost in 2024, and this team continues to win and continues to put out a product that is as good as any in the NHL,” Jerry said. “As good as any in New York sports right now. We don’t talk about them enough.
“They’re just top to bottom, the real deal.”
It has been a joy for Joe Benigno to watch, and he can only hope that the Blueshirts keep up this level of play through late spring and into June.
“They’re the best team in New York. There’s no question about it,” Joe said. “They’re loaded. They’ve got all kinds of firepower. [Artemi] Panarin is having his best regular season so far…to me, they got the best goalie combination in hockey.
“[Peter] Laviolette has done a terrific job. They are the real deal. But the bottom line is, they gotta win it all. We saw the Bruins last year with an unbelievable regular season, and what happened to them in the first round? But you gotta love what you see from the Rangers. They’re the best team in New York. It’s not even close.”
