The Rangers looked to be on their way to leaving a game without a point for the first time since Dec. 27, trailing the Stars 1-0 as the final seconds of regulation ticked down.

But with an extra attacker on the ice and a continued pressure in the offensive zone, K’Andre Miller fired a shot on net that wouldn’t go, but a last-dash effort to corral his own rebound and fire a final shot at Jake Oettinger snuck through, and the Blueshirts had tied it with 0.2 seconds left on the clock.

It was a stunning turn of events for visiting Dallas, who actually drew some sympathy from Miller as he took in the atmosphere at Madison Square Garden after playing the hero.

“When The Garden gets going like that it's very scary,” Miller said. “I wouldn't want to be on the other bench there...it's wild, it's noisy, and it's a fun atmosphere to play in.”

Thanks to Miller, the Rangers earned their fifth win in their last six games, and have logged at least a point in seven straight. It was their third straight game to go to overtime, and after grabbing a shootout win on Tuesday against Minnesota, New York got it done in overtime thanks to Adam Fox.

“Great efforts by the guys out there for the 6-on-5,” Fox said of the final shift in regulation, before he put home the game winner. “They played to the last second…I just kind of came in there late and benefited from it. But there’s a lot of hard work that goes into these goals. We put it in for that last little bit.”

For Miller, it was just his fifth goal of the season, but it was a big one, pulling the Rangers into a tie for second place in the Metropolitan Division with the idle Devils. It also came after he received a boost before the game from home.

“I don't remember, honestly. It was kind of a whirlwind of emotions,” Miller said. “I had my mom text me today and she was giving me a lot of motivation. It’s pretty easy for myself to focus up for these types of games when I have that kind of support from her.”
