K'Andre Miller suspended three games for spitting at Drew Doughty

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday afternoon that K'Andre Miller has been suspended three games for unsportsmanlike conduct on Kings defenseman Drew Doughty.

Miller was ejected from Sunday's game against Los Angeles in the first period, after officials said Miller spat in Doughty's face.

After the incident and the ejection, Miller tweeted that spitting at Doughty was "completely accidental."

"I have all the respect in the world for Drew Doughty and what happened was completely accidental," Miller tweeted Monday. "I would never intend to do something like that on purpose, it goes against everything I am as a person and player. I felt awful about it and I am thankful Drew gave me the opportunity to apologize and explain myself in person after the game."

Miller's suspension will make the Blueshirts even more thin on defense for the time being, as Ryan Lindgren is currently nursing an injury, though the Rangers hope to have him back soon.
