Keith was asked by a caller which New York team would be his pick to finally bring a championship back to the city, and despite his hockey fandom, he didn't hesitate.
"I'd put it on the Rangers. I've been pretty consistent about that," Keith said. "I know my Devils fans hate to hear that."
The Rangers are rolling to begin the season, and are just two years removed from reaching the Eastern Conference Final. The team is clicking under new head coach Peter Laviolette, and with goaltending being paramount for a Stanley Cup run, the Blueshirts have one of the best in the business in Igor Shesterkin.
"If the Rangers win the Stanley Cup, this place is gonna be insane," Keith said. "If the Rangers win the Stanley Cup, it's a Rangers town, this place is gonna be upside down, everyone is gonna jump on that bandwagon.
"I've been pretty consistent for the last few years. This question comes up every week on the Fan."
Of course, Keith would prefer to see his Yankees be the next team to win it all in New York, but he doesn't see it happening.
"I so badly want [the Yankees] to win the World Series…I just don't believe," Keith said. "Brian Cashman is at the GM Meetings cursing at people, telling them 'We think we're really f----g good.' You're the New York Yankees. You shouldn't have to do that."
