New York Rangers announce four signings, including ex-Blueshirt Greg McKegg

The New York Rangers announced Wednesday that they have signed defensemen Patrik Nemeth and Jarred Tinordi, with Nemeth getting a three-year deal and Tinordi getting two. The team has also signed forwards Greg McKegg (one-year deal) and Dryden Hunt (two years) as well.

Nemeth, 29, split 2021 between Detroit and Colorado, with three goals, seven assists, 87 hits, 20 PIM, and a plus-five rating. He also had an on-ice save percentage of 93.5% at 5-on-5 (meaning his team's goaltenders posted a .935 save percentage while he was on the ice at 5-on-5), which was tied for the 10th-best among the 98 NHL defensemen who played at least 50 games in 2020-21.

Over 366 career games in eight seasons with Dallas, Colorado, and Detroit, Nemeth has 58 points (eight goals, 50 assists), 182 penalty minutes, and a plus-19 rating, and over the last four seasons, his 800 minutes on the penalty kill are fourth in the NHL.

Tinordi, 29, played 21 games for Nashville and Boston this season, with one assist, 11 PIM, and 56 hits and 30 blocked shots. Over 102 career games in six seasons with Montreal, Arizona, Nashville, and Boston, he has one goal, 11 assists, and 123 penalty minutes.

McKegg, 29, split time between the Bruins and their AHL affiliate this season, playing in seven total games. He had one goal in five games with the Bruins, and two assists in two games in Providence this year. McKegg is a former Ranger, having played with the team in 2019-20 (scoring five goals and recording four assists), and over 190 career games in eight seasons with seven teams, he has 19 goals, 15 assists, and 59 penalty minutes.

Hunt, 25, spent this season with Arizona, notching three goals, five assists, four PIM, and 94 hits in 26 games, leading the Coyotes in hits per 60 minutes (18.11). In 89 career games over four seasons with Florida and Arizona, Hunt has six goals, 17 assists and 38 PIM.
