The Rangers will need someone to step up and be a hero if they are to force a decisive game seven back in New York and keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive.
Fortunately, they have a prime candidate who has proven to come through in historic fashion when the Blueshirts need it most.
Heading into Saturday night's game six, with New York down 3-2, Chris Kreider holds 15 career goals in playoff games when facing elimination, which is second most in NHL history. The only player above him? Mark Messier, a playoff legend for the Rangers who made his fame with New York's backs against the wall thanks to a certain guarantee.
When the @NYRangers need him the most in the #StanleyCup Playoffs, Chris Kreider has answered the call time and time again. #NHLStats

Kreider has netted those 15 goals in 26 career playoff games when facing elimination, while Messier ha 16 goals in 24 games.
The Rangers could certainly use some more goals from Kreider, or anyone on the roster, as the scoring attack has been struggling since lighting up Andrei Vasilevskiy in the first eight periods of the series.
