Rangers fans invaded the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, creating an atmosphere rarely seen in a road rivalry tilt with the Flyers.

Igor Shesterkin heard his name loudly chanted, while Philly’s Tony DeAngelo, a former Ranger, heard boos when he touched the puck. In his own arena.

In the end, New York won in overtime on a game-winning goal by newcomer Vladimir Tarasenko, resulting in a roar from the large contingent of Rangers fans that made the trek south to watch their team’s last game before Patrick Kane makes his hyped debut.

The crowd atmosphere was not lost on Flyers head coach John Tortorella.

“Hopefully along the way we get this turned around to where that’s a tough ticket,” Tortorella said. “Maybe Ranger fans just aren’t allowed in the building because we have filled it with our people.”

Of course, the Flyers will need to start winning first, as the team is stumbling towards another lost season, sitting in second-to-last place in the Metropolitan division with a 23-28-11 record.
