Alex Killorn decided to barrel into Igor Shesterkin while the Rangers netminder was on his behind covering the puck on a shot that appeared to be a goal anyway, and Shesterkin’s teammates immediately rushed to his defense.
What ensued was complete chaos and fights galore.
An irate Ryan Lindgren immediately went after Killorn but lost him in the skirmish, so he started throwing punches at the closest Lightning player in his vicinity, and order was restored after 90 seconds of bodies on the ice and the Rangers wanting justice for the charge into Shesterkin.
Less than five minutes later, Vincent Trochek and Corey Perry dropped the gloves, and shortly after that skirmish, Braden Schneider laid a heavy hit on Nicholas Paul, leading to some more extracurriculars, including Ross Colton tackling Schneider to the ice.
The Rangers would get the win, but fittingly, the game ended with Ben Harpur dropping the gloves with Perry after the final horn sounded.
“We're a close-knit team,” Lindgren said. “We've got each other's back. If we see something we don't like, we're gonna jump in there and help each other out.”
