Boomer: Panthers and their many 'agitators' will make Eastern Conference Final 'combative'
The Rangers and Panthers will drop the puck on the Eastern Conference Final Wednesday night, and Boomer began Wednesday's show by previewing what he expects to be a very tough series with a trip to the Stanley Cup on the line.
Boomer says, if Florida has its way, the series will be very physical, and will result in the Blueshirts spending a lot of time in the penalty box.
"I fully expect this series to be combative, to say the least," Boomer said. "I would say that this team is filled with agitators. They want to get in your face. They want you to cross check, high stick, board…and get you into the penalty box. That's where they're deadly."
The Rangers penalty kill was a well-oiled machine against the Hurricanes in the conference semifinals, but Boomer doesn't want to test the Panthers power play, and wants his Blueshirts to stay out of the scrums along the boards and not take the bait.
"The last thing you want to do if you're the Rangers is get into this scrum type of series," Boomer said. "The last thing you want to do is put Florida on the power play."
