The Rangers have extended their backup netminder for another year.
The Blueshirts announced they have signed Jonathan Quick to a one-year contract extension worth $1.55 million, keeping New York’s goalie tandem intact for another year.
The 39-year-old hasn’t been as solid of a backup for the Rangers this season, posting an .896 save percentage and a 3.14 GAA in 21 games. Last season for the Blueshirts, he was one of the better backups in the NHL, boasting a .911 save percentage while allowing just 2.62 goals per game.
The two-time All-Star and Stanley Cup champion has made 17 starts this season, filling in when Igor Shesterkin was out with an upper-body injury.
The Rangers have lost four in a row but still sit just two points out of a playoff spot.
