Sal Licata was in a celebratory mood on Thursday night, declaring the Rangers' first-round series done and in the bag after another dominant win over the Devils in game two.
"We want the Cup! We want the Cup!" Sal chanted. "Another dominant win by the rangers, who are ready to make a Cup run.
"I know a lot of fans were a little nervous about the Devils. I thought the Devils were supposed to be a good team? This is the team that finished ahead of the rangers in the standings? Come on! The Rangers go in there and smoke them two times in a row in their own building!"
Considering how superior the Blueshirts have looked to start the postseason, Sal is ready to believe that this group is set to accomplish what last year's team couldn't, as he is getting shades of 1994 with this team.
"Since when do the Rangers make things easy? Outside of 1994 of course, in the first two rounds, anyone want to make comparisons here?" Sal said.
"This is a mismatch. Devils were a really good regular season team…but the Rangers are a team that has been built to win the Stanley Cup, and through two games, they look like a team that is on a mission to win the Cup.
"All the pieces are in place. The head coach, the pieces they added at the deadline, the experience, the goaltending, Fox and the defensemen…you name it, they've got it."
