Sal: Rangers will never win Stanley Cup with Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider

Sal was convinced that the Rangers had what it took to win the Stanley Cup this year, and now that the run has ended in the Eastern Conference Final, he says it is time to shake up the core.

“Definitively, now we know. This group ain’t good enough,” Sal said. “They will never win a Stanley Cup with this group led by Zibanejad, Panarin, and Chris Kreider.

“Your best players aren’t tough enough to succeed in the postseason.”

It will be tough to shake up the core due to players under contract, as Zibanejad, Panarin, and Kreider are all under contract until at least 2026. But Sal says Chris Drury needs to find a way, or else this group will always have a ceiling.

“You can’t run it back with the same core. You have to find a way,” Sal said.

“What a terrible, terrible showing by the Rangers in game six. They didn’t show up. They didn’t do anything. This was supposed to be the year…this year, I believed they were going to win the Stanley Cup.”
