NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Gov. Kathy Hochul was greeted with a chorus of boos during an appearance at Tuesday night's Rangers game to promote "Women's Empowerment Night."

Loud jeers erupted as the announcer introduced New York's first female governor, who was dressed in a Rangers jersey, to drop the game's ceremonial first puck at Madison Square Garden.
Hochul appeared visibly unshaken by the moment, but her political rivals, including presumptive GOP gubernatorial nominee Lee Zeldin, seized on it.
"NY Rangers fans are ready to FIRE Kathy Hochul and are ALL IN to Save Our State! Losing is not an option," the Long Island Congressman tweeted.
Fellow Republican candidate Rob Astorino said the boos were in opposition to the Democrat's COVID-19 mask mandate and other policies.
"On behalf of the millions of kids she fought in court to keep masked, the 34,000 health care workers she fired, all the victims of her bail reform … Rangers fans let @GovKathyHochul have it tonight," he tweeted.
