The Rangers have lost five of their last seven after falling 5-1 to the shorthanded Golden Knights on Thursday night, and Boomer wonders how every opposing netminder suddenly finds their A game against the Blueshirts.
“Every goaltender we play winds up playing like Ken Dryden, for God sakes,” Boomer lamented.
The Rangers haven’t scored more than two goals in a game in their last five contests, while their own goalie has not been at the top of his game.
Igor Shesterkin’s rough night is the latest in a season where he is allowing more goals per game than any season in his career, which Boomer says could be a big problem if it continues.
“Twenty five shots on goal, and Igor let some softies in,” Boomer said. “These last 11 games have just not been very good.
“If Igor is gonna play like he does in these games…when he plays well, they’re virtually unbeatable. But when he has a tough game…”
