RJ Barrett couldn't believe the terms of Aaron Judge's reported contract with the Yankees, but he had to remind himself that contracts in baseball are much different than the NBA, given the nature of the sport and the absence of a salary cap.
"That's huge. He was great this year," Barrett said. "All congrats to him. It takes me a little second when I see the baseball contracts, because I'm like, 'Nine years?! Sheesh!' We do like four or five."
Barrett signed a four-year extension with the Knicks this past offseason that could be worth up to $120 million, which is exactly one third of the money Judge will receive on his deal. But Barrett is happy to have a New York star staying put.
"Congrats to him," Barrett said. "Happy that he's staying here for another nine."
