Rutgers football will open with three straight home games as part of the 2023 schedule released Wednesday. The Scarlet Knights are set to host seven contests overall at SHI Stadium.
The season opener versus Northwestern on Sept. 2 will mark the first time RU begins a campaign with a Big Ten home game since joining the league. After hosting Temple week two (Sept. 9), the Scarlet Knights remain home to take on Virginia Tech (Sept. 16) for the first time in New Jersey since 2003. The third non-conference matchup is slated for Sept. 30 against Wagner at SHI Stadium.

Rutgers faces Wisconsin (Oct. 7) and Iowa (Nov. 11) on the road to round out games opposing West opponents, while traveling to Michigan (Sept. 23), Indiana (Oct. 21) and Penn State (Nov. 18) for East away matchups. The three remaining home games within the division are versus Michigan State (Oct. 14), Ohio State (Nov. 4) and Maryland (Nov. 25).
Game times and television networks will be announced at a later date.
