A caller to our morning show Tuesday wanted to let Sal Licata know that he's exactly the kind of fan the Mets want to boo…and that just set Sal off on a rant.
"THEY GIVE ME EVERY REASON TO DO IT! Cut the lawn, pay the guy for the mulch, the A/C guy has to come, 14 grand in the hole…I miss my days being single living in the city!" "I don't think I booed them once from 2012-15, when they stunk in 2012!"
To Sal, the Mets actually have stunk, in theory, for 60 years.
"This is a franchise that twice in their history since 1962 have made the postseason back-to-back years, but the fans are in the wrong?" Sal screamed. "I'll be dead before this franchise has sustained success! Don't tell me what to do, and don't shoot the messenger, someone has to call them out!"
And even on a rant…Sal had to be polite to end it.
"But thanks for the call."
