A caller is convinced that Sal hates the Yankees due to his lack of belief in the Bombers having a championship roster, which led to Sal exploding over New York fans "going soft" and not carrying the same expectations that they used to.
"Met fans think I hate the Mets, Yankee fans think I hate the Yankees, Jet fans think I hate the Jets, Giant fans think I hate the Giants. Knick fans think I hate the Knicks because I said they can't win a championship," Sal said. "The reality is, New Yorkers have gotten soft. It's despicable what you've become. I'm a New York sports fan, and I'm tough. I have the highest of expectations here.
"You guys are soft! You can't handle the truth. The truth is, the teams around here stink! They're not good enough. The Giants and Jets have sucked for far too long. The Mets haven't sniffed a World Series win since 1986, the Yankees haven't been to a World Series since 2009, the Knicks haven't been good since the late 90s. You can't handle the truth. But I'm the problem."
