BT and Sal went through the latest MLB hot stove rumors during Wednesday's show, and Sal was getting more and more aggravated by the second.
After reading SNY's Andy Martino's reports that the Yankees and Padres have progressed in Juan Soto talks, while the Mets are close to adding a player who is "not a star," Sal was heated. After reading that the Yankees are considered the top candidate to land Yoshinobu Yamamoto, he blew a gasket.
"This is not going the Mets way already, and I'm starting to get ticked off…this is pissing me off here!" Sal said. "What team in baseball would not trade two top-100 prospects for Juan Soto? You would be out of your mind not to!
"I don't want to go nuts here, but this is typical Mets bullcrap. The Yankees are rumored to be getting Yamamoto and Soto…and the Mets are gonna add a guy to fill out their 40-man roster! I've had it! It hasn't even happened yet, and I've had it! I can't deal with this!"
Sal calmed himself down and reinforced his belief in Steve Cohen, but reading reports linking the Yankees to the biggest stars of the offseason is not helping his blood pressure.
"If the Yankees get Yamamoto and Soto, I give up!" Sal said. "The Mets should be in trade talks for Juan freaking Soto."
