Sal Licata has had enough of angry Yankee fans declaring themselves done with the team and no longer spending money to watch a franchise that has not had a losing record in over 30 years.
Sure, Sal's Mets have had a more recent trip to the World Series, but he would happily trade that pennant for what the Yankee fan has been able to watch year after year.
"At least the Mets were in a World Series more recently, but I'd trade that World Series berth for consistent, sustained success in the playoffs every single year, where Yankee fans have that," Sal said. "Even in a bad year this year, you know you're gonna have a playoff berth.
"There's something to be said for having that entertainment as a fan. Win or lose in the postseason, you know, as a Yankee fan, you're gonna be there every year. I know it can get old…but getting there is the fun."
BT says there is a limit to consistent postseason appearances if it never ends with achieving the ultimate goal, but Sal pointed to BT's pain as a Jets fan as reason for why any fan should be happy with getting to watch their team in the playoffs annually.
"You'd do anything to be able to watch your team in the postseason, and you have that with the Yankees," Sal said. "And fans are like 'Eh, that doesn't do anything for me. How dare I go spend my money on season tickets?' if a Met fan called saying that, I'd understand. I can't with the Yankees."
