Mike McCarthy will be back as Cowboys head coach, and while many Cowboys fans may have lamented the news, Boomer said it was a good sign of stability in Dallas, and evidence that Jerry Jones wouldn’t overreact to a blowout playoff loss to the Packers.

“I was actually happy to hear it,” Boomer said. “I often talk about stability…and the sewer pit of social media can affect everything and everybody if you allow it to.

“Sometimes these owners have to take a step back and take a look at what success they’ve had with their head coaches, and then realize not to be emotional and not get caught up in the idiocy and nonsense on social media.”

There have been many reactionary firings over the years, especially in New York. But Boomer appreciates an organization acknowledging consistent success, and the reality of just how difficult it is to win it all.

“Sometimes you just have to take a step back and say, ‘There is only one Super Bowl winner, you never know who that’s gonna be…and then you sometimes run into a hot team and wind up getting blasted,’” Boomer said. “And maybe your best player has his worst game. That’s what happened with the Cowboys and Dak Prescott.”
