If you click on the link below, you will hear my interview with John U. Bacon, who has written several New York Times bestselling books over the years. He has a new work coming out in a couple of weeks that's a terrific read– and if you're involved in sports, either as a parent or a coach, you'll want to get a copy right away.
The book is entited LET THEM LEAD: Unexpected Lessons in Leadership from America's Worst High School Hockey Team. It officially pubs on September 7th, but you can order a copy now at Amazon or BN.com.
And yes, you heard me right about that title. The book has been described as Ted Lasso meets The Mighty Ducks, and that's not too far off. In short, it's a true story about a total turnaround of a HS ice hockey program – where the kids almost had a perverse pride of being winless the year before (they finished 0-22-3 at Huron HS in Ann Arbor, MI) – and how John Bacon and his staff were able to figure out how to connect with these HS kids and unleash their potential.
If you're a coach of young people at any level, you are going to find this story not only uplifting and inspiring, but chock full of new insights and lessons you can and should use with your athletes and in the real world as well.
