Tiki & Morash love MLB beefing up Subway Series in 2025

Major League Baseball has released its 2025 schedule, and with it comes some big changes.

The league will be boasting a Rivalry Week in the middle of May next year, loaded with interleague rivalries that include the Yankees and Mets going at it for a three-game series in the Bronx, followed by three more at Citi Field during Fourth of July weekend.

While Tiki doesn't love the idea of a holiday weekend being taken over by a Subway Series instalment, he applauds the league for recognizing that more is better when it comes to these rivalries, specifically the two rivals in New York.

"This is awesome by Major League Baseball," Tiki said. "They did it right, and then they did it wrong. The Subway Series with the Mets is on the Fourth of July. So it's great, but it's also not.

"Creating a rivalry week…the one thing baseball has not always done well is that. Creating a reason outside of 'this is my favorite team' to watch."

The Yanks and Mets typically play two games in each stadium, and many of those series have come in the middle of the week. Now, the Subway Series will be on a grander stage, and will happen more often, which is great in the eyes of Morash.

"Over the last decade or so, outside of every three years, you would have the Yankees and Mets play only four times instead of six, and not just that. Tuesday and Wednesday, like we have next week, there's still buzz, but let's be honest, for a good rivalry, we want a good weekend tuned-up crowd," Morash said. "Major League Baseball is going back to practicing this premise.

"The bottom line is this: more Yankee/Met games, I think it's a great thing for this town, and I'm a big fan of it."
