Team USA has released its roster for the upcoming Olympics, and it has plenty of familiar faces.
Former Yankee and Met Todd Frazier is among the group, as is former Yankee reliever David Robertson. Scott Kazmir and Tyler Austin are also on the roster.
Frazier was the Yankees’ starting third baseman during their memorable 2017 playoff run, and joined the Mets afterward before being granted free agency by the Pirates earlier this season. Robertson was also with the Yanks in 2017, and later signed with the Phillies, where he last pitched in 2019.
Tyler Austin came up with the Yanks alongside Aaron Judge and homered in his first major league at-bat, joining Judge to become the only duo in MLB history to go back-to-back in their first at-bats in the majors. Like Robertson, he last played in the bigs in 2019.
Group stage of Olympic competition begins on July 28. The Olympics hasn’t had baseball since 2008, when Team USA earned a bronze medal. It claimed gold in 2000.
Team USA takes on Israel on July 30.
