A Yankee fan called in to BT and C-Mac to say he was “jealous” of the Mets for reportedly signing J.D. Martinez to a one-year deal, and C-Mac couldn’t believe his ears.
“I’m sorry, I can’t take it. You’re jealous of J.D. Martinez for $4 million? J.D. Martinez would be the sixth best hitter on the Yankees! Stop it,” C-Mac said. “His market collapsed all the way down to $4 million, and we’ll pay him in 10 years. Now you’re all gonna throw a parade after telling me for weeks that this plan of watching these two kids and figuring out what you have with these young players is important? And I’m supposed to be jealous as a Yankee fan?
“It’s the bare minimum they should have done to give this team an opportunity. So I’m not gonna go crazy that Steve Cohen had this unbelievable pivot to somehow change the narrative of the franchise.”
BT was equally flabbergasted by a Yankee fan being jealous of an aging DH, even if he loved the move for the Mets.
“Jealous? Stop!” BT said. “You’re jealous of cheerleaders and College Night?”
