C-Mac opened Wednesday morning’s show just hours after Jordan Montgomery signed his short-term deal with the Diamondbacks, ending speculation that the lefty could wind up in New York.

In C-Mac’s eyes, Montgomery not coming back to the Bronx, or to Queens, was proof that the Yankees and Mets made business decisions, because both teams could have used him in their respective rotations.

“There is no doubt that Jordan Montgomery makes sense for both of these teams,” C-Mac said. “While it makes plenty of sense for the ‘all in’ Yankees, I’ve already told you they’re not all in, and we knew it.

“We don’t have to like it. I don’t. They should have done this. It was a one-year deal...but they weren’t going to spend this much money on a player.”

C-Mac liked it even more for the Mets, but the Yankees had a clear need with Gerrit Cole out for two months, and the rest of the rotation filled with question marks. Instead, the Yanks will stick with what they have, and avoid the luxury tax penalties that would have come with bringing back Montgomery.

“I’m pissed, because look at the state of the rotation,” C-Mac said. “This isn’t just about the money they saved. This is about what they see as good business.”
