Yankees, Mets release 2023 schedules with new format in place

Major League Baseball has released its 2023 schedule, where the new format will go into effect of each team playing each other during the season.

For the Yankees, that starts right away with a series against the Giants in the Bronx beginning on Opening Day, March 30.

The Mets open on the road against the Marlins, and will play their first American League team on April 14 against the A's, part of a long west coast swing that includes series against the Dodgers and Giants as well.

The first Subway Series matchups will take place on June 13 and 14 in Queens, then July 25 and 26 in the Bronx.

The Yankees, who were off on July 4 this season, won't be this year, and neither will anyone else, as all 30 teams are scheduled to play on Opening Day and July 4 for the first time in over 50 years.

As a result of the new format, teams won't be meeting division rivals as frequently as before, as the Mets will face the Phillies 13 times instead of the typical 19, same for the Yanks and Red Sox.

The full Yankees schedule can be seen here.
