Aaron Boone reveals Yankees starting rotation to begin season

Aaron Boone has laid out what the Yankees’ starting rotation will look like when the season opens next week.

No surprise, Gerrit Cole will take the ball on Opening Day against the Red Sox on Thursday, and Luis Severino will take the second game of the season on Saturday. Severino, who saw minimal time on the mound last season as he recovered from Tommy John surgery, will no longer pitch on Wednesday in spring training action due to general arm soreness, though Boone said he will pitch on Saturday.

The Yanks will wrap up the series with Jordan Montgomery, then turn to Jameson Taillon, who is coming off of ankle surgery. Nestor Cortes Jr., a revelation in the rotation last season, rounds out the starting rotation to begin the season.

Domingo German was expected to be a part of the rotation, but he will start the season on the 60-day IL.
