Gerrit Cole will “likely” start Tuesday for the Yankees, hopefully putting an end to his injury scare with his balky hamstring at simply being pushed back a few days – but prior to Sunday’s Subway Series finale at Citi Field, Yankees manager Aaron Boone had the following updates on other injured Yankees:
JONATHAN LOAISIGA (strained rotator cuff): “He is on Day 7 or 8, he’s doing a lot better but not at the point where he can start throwing again, he’s still a few days away from that. We’ll know once that’s in play, but I know in yesterday’s report, he was continuing to do a lot better in what he was doing rehab-wise. We’ll see where we are in a few days when hopefully he’s able to play catch and start ramping up again.”
JAMESON TAILLON (partially torn ankle tendon): “He came over here yesterday after his rehab at Yankee Stadium, and I know he was doing a lot better than the day before. I don’t know how today’s rehab went, but I know he’s had some steady improvement but not ready to get on a mound. We’ll see (if he misses more than one start).
He’s not starting in the next five days, but we’ll see where we are in a few days.”
LUIS SEVERINO (shoulder soreness): “He did well in his two-up bullpen the other day, and I think he’s throwing another one tomorrow, and then we’ll explore a live or a game situation from there.”
DOMINGO GERMAN (shoulder inflammation): “I think he’s scheduled to go in a game on Tuesday, and then we’ll make a decision If he’s ready
CLINT FRAZIER (dizziness): “I don’t think we’re going to see him here. He’s going through his workouts still and having good days and not-so-good days, but I don’t think we’re going to see him here. He’s seen so many specialists trying to get answers, but right now, we just want him to get to a point where he’s well and able to play full bore.”
