Aaron Judge bought Anthony Volpe a PlayStation 5 so they could bond over FIFA games

Aaron Judge is taking his new captaincy with the Yankees seriously, which he proved with rookie Anthony Volpe starting in spring training.

Volpe told ESPN’s Marly Rivera that the reigning MVP gifted him with a new PlayStation 5 so the two could bond over games of FIFA together, with the Yankees’ established star hoping to make the franchise’s future star more comfortable.

“It was my way of trying to connect with him and trying to know him as a person, particularly when it comes to the things that he enjoys off the field,” Judge told Rivera. “And one thing that I picked up in spring training was hearing him talk about FIFA.”

Per Rivera, Volpe recently got into soccer and began playing FIFA on PS4, so Judge bought him a PS5 so they could play together. Judge is apparently known within the Yankee locker room for his FIFA skills, and has been giving Volpe a close-up view of those talents. Volpe says Judge beat him 3-1 in a five-game series.

Volpe spoke highly of Judge’s leadership to ESPN, saying his “leadership is constant.”
