The Yankees’ lineup will be much closer to full strength on Saturday afternoon against the Rays.
After missing the last two games with what Aaron Boone described as “general side soreness,” Aaron Judge is back in the lineup and playing right field, while Gio Urshela is off of the COVID-19 list and starting at third base.
Urshela was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup after experiencing side effects from his COVID-19 vaccination, which much of the team received earlier this week.
Judge was given Wednesday off due to side soreness, with Boone hoping two straight days of rest would allow him to play on Friday, but he was held out of the lineup despite taking batting practice. Boone had stressed being cautious with Judge, who has experienced multiple injuries since 2018, and has suffered two oblique strains since making his big-league debut in 2016.
Judge went 3-for-5 with a home run in his last game on Tuesday night against the Orioles.
