The Yankees will be heading to Iowa on Thursday to take part in the first-ever “Field of Dreams” game, and they told WFAN’s Danielle McCartan that the excitement of visiting the site of one of baseball cinema’s most recognizable locations is mounting.

“I think seeing the stadium, walking through the corn, seeing the fans, I don’t know,” Aaron Judge said. “I’m pretty excited….getting a chance to play there, hoping to see a couple ghosts.”

The Yanks and White Sox will square off in the corn fields where the 1989 movie was filmed, playing around 159 acres of corn at the Lansing Family Farm and bringing together an idea that originated nearly a decade ago, and is finally coming to fruition.

The Yankees are excited to be among the first to take the field for the first MLB game ever played in Iowa, let alone at one of the most iconic locations in baseball movie history.

“I just want to see the field,” Gleyber Torres said. “I’ve seen the movie like a thousand times already. I’m really excited to see how they make it.

“First time when we go there, I’ll take my phone and get videos everywhere and do something close to the field too…it’s a really good experience. As a player, we saw the movie, and now we’ll play there. it’s an amazing experience. I’m excited to go there and take lots of pictures.”

So, where does “Field of Dreams” rank among the Yankees’ favorite baseball movies of all time? If it’s not at the top, it’s very close.

“It’s up there for me,” Judge said. “I’m a big “The Sandlot” guy…but it’s a great movie. It’s one of the top baseball movies of all time.”

“Maybe,” Torres added. “It’s up there, for sure.”

The experience will likely be up there among the most unique that the Yankees have been a part of, as many will have experienced playing in London and now at the “Field of Dreams” site in a matter of two years. Every game for the playoff-hopeful Yanks is critical at this point in the season, but they’ll still try and enjoy the experience.

"We’re only playing one game there,” Judge said. “We’ll just try to soak it up and enjoy the moment. That’s what it’s all about.”

Judge also gave McCartan a scoop, revealing that Kevin Costner, who plays the main character Ray Kinsella in the movie, will be in attendance.

“I think he’s gonna make an appearance,” Judge said. “Might have some inside info.”
