The superlatives continue to pour in for Aaron Judge after hitting two home runs and robbing another on Monday night, and BT may have provided the strongest one of all.
“I think Aaron Judge has a chance to be the best baseball player we’ve seen in 50 years,” BT said.
“It seems outlandish at first…it shouldn’t seem outlandish. It is a big statement.”
First, BT is focusing solely on position players, and he is also wiping out candidates that were popped for steroid use.
“It can’t be A-Rod: cheater,” BT said. “It can’t be Bonds: cheater.”
For BT, the only competition would come from two superstar outfielders who enjoyed their prime on the west coast.
“To me, the resistance would come in the form of Ken Griffey Jr,” BT said. “He’s the best I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve never seen a more pure, agile/explosive player.
“I think you can generate a lot of steam for Griffey, and some steam for Mike Trout. That’s it.”
Still, BT might go with Judge at this point, as the Yankee captain is statistically off to an even better start than he was last year, during his 62-homer season.
“I look at Aaron Judge at this point, and he’s like [Michael] Jordan,” BT said. “He’s like Kobe. He’s like young LeBron.
“It’s easy in basketball. It’s hard in baseball to look special every night, and he does.”
