Aaron Judge making more history with torrid 2025 start
Aaron Judge added some more history to his already ridiculously decorated career with a tone-setting blast on Thursday night.
The Yankee captain smoked a 112 mph laser into the Yankee bullpen to give the Bombers an immediate 3-0 lead in the first inning in their series finale against Arizona, already the fifth homer of the season for Judge.
The opposite-field blast was the 500th extra-base hit of his career, a feat he accomplished in just 999 career games. He is the third-fastest Yankee to reach that milestone, and per MLB’s Sarah Langs, Judge’s 320 career home runs is 41 more than any other player in league history through their first 1,000 career games.
As for this season, Stathead’s Katie Sharp added that Judge is the first player in league history to log at least five home runs and 15 RBI through the first six games of the season, as the slugger is off to a torrid start in 2025.
Suffice to say, those who have an up-close view of Judge’s greatness are in awe, even while watching it unfold on a nightly basis.
“He's showing everyone why he's the MVP and one of the best baseball players to ever play,” Jazz Chisholm said after the Yankees’ 9-7 victory. “Think of last year. He hit 58 and had a bad first month. Imagine right now what he's about to do. I'm just trying to keep up.”
Right now, the rest of baseball is simply trying to keep up.
