Aaron Judge is not surprised at all that he heard some boos in the Bronx on Friday.
Simply put, the boos will stop when he starts to produce at the plate as the Yanks head to Cleveland deadlocked in the ALDS.
“Not at all. It happens,” Judge said. “It’s happened many times in my career here. There’s nothing I can do.
“I gotta play better, that's what it comes down to. Didn't do the job tonight, especially as a leadoff hitter. I gotta get on base and make something happen on the basepaths. I didn’t do that tonight.”
The Yanks missed an opportunity to hit the road with a commanding 2-0 lead, and instead have turned the ALDS into a best of three that will be played in as many days. The outlook for the series has certainly changed, and Judge’s first two games have driven up the concern level among many fans, but not Judge himself.
“We've had adversity throughout this whole long season on our way to winning the division,” Judge said. “This isn't anything new to us. We've got the guys in this room to go out there and finish this job.”
Judge’s teammates, who had a front row seat to his 62 home runs this season, also have little concern that Judge won’t break out and be a factor this weekend in Cleveland.
“He's gonna be fine,” Giancarlo Stanton said. “We've got two out of three to win and he's gonna help us do that.”
