Aaron Boone is seen as a potential scapegoat for the Yankees’ disastrous season, but the Yankee captain doesn’t want to see a new manager in the dugout.
Aaron Judge told SNY’s Andy Martino that he wants Boone back, not shying away from a chance to directly address his thoughts on Boone’s job performance.
“I’ve been with Boonie all the way since 2018,” Judge told Martino. “He’s the guy.
“He has been there for us in good times and bad times. The guy shows up and supports his players. You can probably tell by the amount of times he’s been thrown out of games that he always has our back.”
Judge, who also added that he would like to see interim hitting coach Sean Casey retained, told Martino that the way he feels about Boone is how the rest of the roster feels.
“There are 28 guys in here that have his back,” Judge said.
Boone is trying to avoid becoming the first Yankee manager to oversee a sub-.500 season in over 30 years, but he has two 100-win seasons and three ALCS appearances in his six seasons as skipper.
