Aaron Judge has won his second Silver Slugger award, as the Yankees announced Thursday night that Judge had earned the honor in the American League by Louisville.
Judge, who last won the award during his historic 52-homer rookie season back in 2017, put up a six-win season in 2021, batting .287 with 39 home runs, 98 RBI and a .916 OPS. Most importantly for the Yanks, Judge was able to stay on the field and consistently healthy, logging 550 at-bats across 148 games, second only to DJ LeMahieu in each of those categories.
Judge is the first Yankee outfielder to win a second Silver Slugger in pinstripes since Gary Sheffield won it in back-to-back seasons in 2004 and 2005. The only other Bronx Bomber to win it multiple times as an outfielder is Dave Winfield.
Judge now has another accolade to present if and when the Yankees discuss a potential contract extension. The 29-year-old is a free agent at the end of next season.
