Al Dukes feels for Royals fans who came out to see Aaron Judge, Bronx Bombers

The conversation surfaces much more in the NBA than Major League Baseball, but Al Dukes expressed remorse for Royals fans that came to the ballpark on Monday expecting to see the likes of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, and got Trent Grisham and Jahmi Jones instead.

“I felt bad for the Kansas City person, the young by out in Kansas City who went to see the game,” Al said. “Not only did you not get to see Judge, but nine singles from the home run hitting Yankees. It was not the Bronx Bombers.

“All singles. I don’t know. Doesn’t sound like a very exciting game to me.”

For Judge, arguably the biggest star in baseball right now, it was his first day off of the year, while Stanton was getting a night off after a brutal series against the Dodgers. Juan Soto got half a day off in his first game back since being diagnosed with forearm inflammation, and the Royals fan was left watching a lineup with Gleyber Torres batting third. Jerry understood any frustration Kansas City fans might have been feeling, but notes that baseball is much different than basketball, as off days are much fewer, and managers need to find windows to give players a breather.

“You show up in Kansas City last night to see Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and whatever you think of him now, Giancarlo Stanton,” Jerry said. “And instead you got Verdugo - who was gonna be there anyway in left field - Trent Grisham, and Jahmi Jones.”
