Alex Rodriguez already has ownership in the Minnesota Timberwolves, but could he follow in former teammate Derek Jeter’s steps back to his hometown?

According to Jon Heyman, the former Yankee and Miami native “would be interested” in buying the Marlins for the right price, a team that Jeter recently stepped away from as CEO and shareholder, after reported differences with ownership when it came to money that would be dedicated to payroll. Per Heyman, many are wondering if owner Bruce Sherman will sell the team due to displeasure with a balance sheet that shows them losing money since taking over the low-payroll, low-attended franchise.

Rodriguez tried to purchase the team before, but lost out to Jeter and Sherman. Since then, Rodriguez moved to NBA ownership with the Timberwolves, while his nephew, Joe Dunand, was promoted to the Marlins’ big-league club. He also failed in his attempt to buy the Mets before Steve Cohen won the bid.

Rodriguez, a certain Hall of Famer had it not been for multiple steroid scandals, has remained around the game in a broadcasting role with ESPN.
