There’s more public betting interest in the New York Yankees to win the 2024 World Series than there was for the 2023 World Series at this time last year.
Minutes after the Houston Astros won the 2022 World Series with a 4-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 6 on Nov. 5, the Yankees opened at +900 at BetMGM to win the 2023 World Series.
By February they had reached +750, tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets for the third-shortest odds behind the Astros. At the time, the Yankees had 9% of the handle on 8% of the tickets, both the third-highest shares.
One year later, after opening at +1600 on Nov. 1, following the Texas Rangers series-clinching win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Yankees enter February at +900.
Dodgers: +360
Braves: +600
Astros: +850
Yankees: +900
Rangers: +1100
Through the first three months of futures betting, the Yankees own 14% of the handle on 11% of the tickets, both the second-highest shares. The Dodgers lead with 24% and 16%, respectively.
