Boomer & Gio: Juan Soto couldn't appear in Dodgers series at all?
Juan Soto sat for the entire weekend series against the Dodgers, and fans in the Bronx were clearly disappointed, chanting “We want Soto” when replacement Trent Grisham came to the plate in a big spot during Sunday’s series finale.
Grisham responded by blasting what would be the game-winning three-run home run, but Boomer and Gio were still disappointed that Soto did not play at all in what was the biggest series of the season to date.
“Were the Yankees trying to be overly cautious? There was no structural damage!” Gio said.
“You could have made him your DH…that was just a very, very strange one…He could have played through it.”
Boomer and Gio expected to see Soto in the series even after he exited Thursday’s game with forearm inflammation, and were bummed that one of the team’s biggest stars couldn’t play in a series that was loaded with star power.
“Stick it in ice, get some stim, call it a day, and get out there,” Boomer said. “But it’s early in the season...you know how this goes.”
