Boomer & Gio: Is Juan Soto making himself at home in New York, or will it come down to money?
Juan Soto took in the Knicks game one win at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, as he continues to make himself at home in New York before hitting free agency.
Boomer wondered if Soto’s attendance was another was to settle in to the city he will eventually call home for good.
“If they win the World Series this year, and have a parade in the Canyon of Heroes and he’s on the first float, he ain’t going anywhere,” Boomer said. “I would love to think that going to a Knicks game, being at The Garden, looking at the Yankee fans out there, he’s like ‘This is my home. This is where I want to be.’”
Gio isn’t sure if that still matters as much to the modern player, and if Soto is offered more in free agency this winter, he will bolt in a flash.
“I just think those days are over for a lot of those guys,” Gio said. “It’s just like ‘Whoever is gonna pay me the most, I’m gonna go there.’”
